Located at PS8 on Hicks Street between Middagh and Poplar Streets
PS8’s Annual Paddlewheeler Block Party is back for 2026 with rides, bounce house, arts & crafts, face painting, cotton candy, chess and table tennis tournaments, photo booth, and more!
All activities will be available 12-4pm except for the dunk tank (1-3pm) and a DJ Marc Bars dance party (2-4pm). We’ll have sprinklers on car-free Poplar again so feel free to pack a swimsuit & towel!
Need a break during the event? Neighboring Poplar Street Garden will host a peaceful Serenity Lab featuring the beauty of nature, gardening tips, coloring activities, puzzles, and calming music in a relaxing space with seating for all ages. They will also offer a scavenger hunt at 1pm and 3pm.
PLEASE NOTE: All prices listed are suggested donations. While Paddlewheeler is a school fundraiser, it is most importantly a beloved community event. We want everyone at PS8 to be able to attend regardless of ability to pay. Anyone can request a wristband at the event for any price at all. If you need to request free wristband in advance, please contact the Parent Coordinator.
Volunteers Needed!
Parents/caregivers, grandparents, student alumni, responsible 4th & 5th graders, and community neighbors are all encouraged and welcome to volunteer! Please consider signing up for multiple time slots.
