Our instructional vision ensures that children are assessed holistically and goals are created with attention to precision, equity and the social-emotional well being of each child in mind.
We take time to get to know each child. Children demonstrate what they know and are able to do in each content area multiple times and teachers assess their knowledge in a variety of ways. We value communication with families and do our best work when we have a shared understanding of how children are progressing. It is important that children and their families have a clear understanding about skills their children have mastered, as well as which areas they need to continue to work on.
We measure each child’s learning in a variety of ways and provide opportunities and support based on each child’s needs. Measures of learning include assessments, classwork, presentations, classroom discussions, conferring with teachers, standardized tests, diagnostic screeners, group projects, hands-on projects, experiments, observations, IEP goals (if applicable), and language acquisition goals/stages (if applicable). We provide children with multiple learning opportunities and modalities. Children are provided regular opportunities for revision. We believe that equitable classrooms provide access for all and we work to support children according to their individual needs.
Teachers and staff know your child as a person. We build strong classroom communities and teach children that respect, responsibility, empathy and integrity are essential to be good community members. Our values and approach fosters the development of the whole child through a balance of academics, enrichment, self-expression, restorative practices and our commitment to social-emotional development. Everything that teachers and staff know about the children supports them in achieving their personal learning goals in a safe and supportive environment.
Report Cards & Grading Scale
We use the NYCPS electronic report cards. Families can access their child’s report card via the New York City Schools Account (NYCSA).

If you need access to your NYCSA, contact our parent coordinator, Eileen Carrier, for assistance. Parents will be asked to “sign off” via a Google Form to indicate receipt of the report card for each marking period.
