MLK Day of Service

MLK Day is a National Day of Service dedicated by Congress as a “Day on, not Day off.” People are encouraged to participate in a service that impacts their community in a positive way.

Here are ways PS8 families made a difference in our community leading up to and on the 2026 Day of Service!

Families volunteered at the Brooklyn Book Bodega‘s Book Hub.

Warm Clothing Drive volunteers sorted clothing with Spread Love Brooklyn and helped with distribution set-up. Thank you also to those who contributed clothing!

Some joined The Service Collective‘s Clean Streets Squad to clean several blocks in our community.

Others prepared meals to stock the Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge.
