Class parents help build community and serve as a communication liaison between classroom families, teachers, and the PTA. Ideally, each class should have two class parents. An email will go out in the beginning of September for those interested in becoming class parents for the 2018-2019 school year.
Create an internal class directory to facilitate communications between families, teachers, and the PTA. You will be asked periodically to forward communications from the PTA to the parents in your class.
You may be asked to recruit volunteers for field trips, assist with classroom events, manage the weekly snack sign-up, create sign-ups for publishing parties, parent-teacher conferences, and other events. Class parents usually use www.signupgenius.com to organize these requests to parents.
Amazon Wish List
You may be asked to help maintain the class wish list and send out reminders to parents to purchase from it. Please remind parents to access Amazon through the PS8 landing link so that a portion of purchases is donated to the PTA.
PTA Monthly Meetings
Attend the monthly PTA meetings to stay informed about school news.
Coordinate your class gift for teachers and staff in December and June.
Class Project for the Auction
Plan and oversee your class project for the Annual Auction and Gala.
The PTA publishes brief posts on the PS8 website about activities and events happening across grades and in individual classes. If you or another parent in your class has an idea for a website story, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
