The Equity and Diversity Team is a subcommittee of the School Leadership Team (SLT) that is working to cultivate a diverse and inclusive environment for students, families, and educators at PS8/MS8. One of the main goals of this team is embrace and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion beyond our classroom walls and into the greater community. This subcommittee does this by spearheading community events, developing student-centered activities around the values and mission of the school, and creating more opportunities for all stakeholders to have dialogue around issues that are affecting our school community. In addition, the team connects with outside organizations for professional development for educators, family events, as well as providing resources which enhance the curricula.

November 27th at 8:30 p.m.
Many of us want books that offer compelling, developmentally appropriate storytelling that also promise to nurture kids’ openness to racial and other kinds of difference, develop their racial and social justice sensibilities, and help them become the community members our increasingly multiracial democracy needs.
Join EmbraceRace for a conversation with Lee & Low Books Literacy Specialist Katie Potter, who’ll share ideas about how to find and share such books with children.
