Sara Mahmood holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, which led to her dual certification in education and special education. After graduating, Sara worked as a substitute teacher in various Pittsburgh public schools in pre-kindergarten to 6th grade classrooms as well as autistic support classrooms (grades 1-3). She moved to New York and began teaching full-time at PS8 in 2014. She loves the sense of community at PS8 and is grateful for such a supportive network of teachers, staff, and parents.
Sara loves getting to know her students individually and figuring out what excites them to learn. “It is so rewarding to then help motivate my students to learn, especially when I can motivate them to overcome the parts of school they find challenging or discouraging. It’s amazing to watch them become more confident, empowered learners!”
Outside of school, Sara enjoys taking dance and yoga classes, going to concerts and museums, and trying new restaurants.
