6th Grade Literacy/Independent Reading
Sandra Brown was born in Jamaica and moved to New York City to attend the New School for Social Research, where she studied Journalism. She worked as a freelance journalist before earning a master’s degree in Literacy at Adelphi College. Sandra began teaching in 1996 and joined the PS8 teaching staff in 2001, where she has taught 2d, 5th and 6th grades. She served as PS8’s Math Intervention Specialist from 2004-2017.
In her free time, Sandra enjoys spending time with her dog, collecting Cuban antiques, swimming, hiking, and traveling abroad.
