Monique Jerry holds a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College. She began teaching at PS 8 in 2002. She loves teaching 2nd grade “because the kids are so enthusiastic about learning. They are like sponges at this age, and so eager to please the teacher, which is great.” Monique likes to teach her students to make how-to books, which they write, illustrate, publish, and then share with classmates. “They can be about anything– such as how to wash a car or how to brush your teeth — and they really have a great time with it,” she says. Monique’s goal is to have all her students reading chapter books by the end of the year, so that they are prepared for 3rd grade.
In her spare time, Monique enjoys reading (especially historical fiction!) and going to the movies.
