Molly Mackman joined the PS8 teaching team in 2017 after teaching at a District 15 school for eleven years. Molly was drawn to teaching while volunteering in her children’s elementary school. Tutoring children in the classroom and seeing great teachers at work inspired her to pursue a teaching career. Molly left the world of design and publishing and earned a master’s degree in Education from Brooklyn College in 2008. She says, “Teaching children is such a privilege; witnessing their ‘spark,’ learning what makes them tick, encouraging their strengths and guiding them through their frustrations makes this the most interesting, challenging and satisfying job in the world. I wouldn’t trade it for a desk and a computer any day.”
In her spare time, Molly enjoys running, reading, biking, traveling, art making and gallery viewing, hiking, kayaking, listening to music, spending time with friends, and hanging out with her two twenty-something sons.
