SETSS Teacher, Room 301
Kate Cavenaugh majored in theater acting at Barnard College. While working for a managing agent as a theatrical agency, she volunteered with kids once a week. She realized that she loved working with kids, and she decided to change careers! Kate continued her education, earning a master’s degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities from Brooklyn College as part of the New York Teaching Fellows program. She began providing Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) at PS 8 in 2007.
Kate’s creativity doesn’t stop at the school; in her spare time, she plays the mandolin and sings in a Tennessee bluegrass band.
