Art, Room 206
Julia Munar has a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a master’s degree in Special Education from Ohio University. Julia taught elementary school art at a Chicago public school before moving to Brooklyn and joining the PS8 community in 2015.
Julia is very passionate about teaching art: “I have the best job in the world! In art class, I teach my students artistic behaviors and guide them towards thinking and behaving as artists do. My art room is full of students thinking, asking questions, exploring materials, learning new techniques, and generating ideas.” She loves watching her students become curious and confident artists.
Julia is an alumna of the Art21 Educators program, a learning community for art educators who are interested in bringing contemporary art, artists, and themes into their teaching practice. She is very active in the art education community at large and collaborates with fellow art educators to share ideas about teaching.
Outside of school, Julia enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also loves traveling – “It’s very exciting to me to go see art in places I have never been to before,” she says.
