Alexis Garay holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Syracuse University. It wasn’t long, however, before she realized that teaching was her true calling. She enrolled as a Teaching Fellow at Mercy College and graduated with a master’s degree in Urban Planning.
Alexis came to PS 8 in 2012 with almost a decade of experience teaching students in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms, including ICT settings. She appreciates PS 8’s supportive administration, her synergistic colleagues, and the enthusiasm of the families. Her favorite part of teaching is finding new ways to make learning exciting, as well as acting silly with the children.
Alexis is a mom of three. She is a huge New York sports fan. She enjoys crafting — especially crocheting — and is a Sci-Fi / Fantasy book buff. You might spot her incognito at Comic-Con or the New York Renaissance Faire, both of which she attends annually.
