Ms. Schultz’s Civics Club (made up of six 4th graders and two 3rd graders) took a trip to the NYC Bar Association to present the work that they have done this year as part of the Project Citizen Public Policy Showcase.
Their presentation, called “A Decent Drink of Water” was about the poor quality of the water fountains at PS8 and ideas and an action plan for how to improve them. This was the first year that Ms. Schultz’s club has participated in this showcase. Our PS8 lobbyists were one of two elementary school entrants, all others were made-up of 5th and 6th graders. For their efforts, they won the, “Most Creative Class Policy” award, which is on display in the school office.
