Congratulations to all of the third and fourth grade bookmakers who completed books for the Ezra Jack Keats bookmaking competition. Nearly 60 students joined bookmaking. They worked for about six weeks to create handmade books featuring original stories and artwork. After a quick study of picture book elements and story planning, students set to outlining, drafting, story boarding, illustrating and assembling their books.
It was tough for our jury members to make a decision, but “The Diary of a Dumpling” by Rio & Veronica was ultimately selected to represent PS8 in the city-wide Ezra Jack Keats bookmaking competition.
Creativity is alive and well at PS 8! We look forward to next year’s Ezra Jack Keats bookmaking competition.
