What a diverse and wonderful PS8/MS8 family we all have. Bravo to Elavia and Melissa, our amazing PTA Co-VPs of Community Events – whose passion and hard work shined last night. What a great night of celebrating what makes us different and the same – thank you! We also send special thanks to Adriene Thorne, Mary Kim and Jennifer Rendeiro for help both logistical and visionary, and middle school science teacher Leigh Stumme for her support with . . . everything at the event!
Here are some details from the event:
- 193 country cards installed on the PS8 fence (courtesy of the office of the Brooklyn Borough President)
- Music courtesy of DJ Biggie and West African drummer Sidiki Conde – Dj Biggie grew up in Trinidad on Caribbean music such as Soca & Dancehall, to name a few. After learning the art of DJing from a family friend, he has expanded his music base to include some of the today’s main music genres. He is now one of the most sought after DJ’s on the east end of Long Island. You can read about Sidiki’s visit to MS8 Explorations here.
- Food was prepared by well over 35 PS8/MS8 families!
