2016-17 PS 8 Garden Coach Nicole Mabry and members of the Garden Committee helped our second grade classes plant kale seeds as part of their Brassica science unit before the February break.
Each student was given seeds to plant in individual containers. We discussed how to take care of seedlings before we re-plant them outside in warmer weather. The students discussed whether they liked kale and if so the best way to eat it. Kale chips seem to be the winner! The seedlings were cared for over the winter break and came back to school thriving! We look forward to tasting this healthy snack in the coming months.
