Nominations

Executive Board Membership
There are no qualifications necessary for membership on the Executive Board and only one requirement: you must be a parent or guardian who belongs on the PTA and is not an employee of the school.

The Nomination Process
In March of each year, the PTA holds a meeting to elect a Nominating Committee. Those elected to the Nominating Committee post nomination forms in the school office, which are to be filled out by prospective board members. The form includes general questions, a statement of declaring one’s willingness to serve, as well as questions to determine eligibility. Prospective board members can run for any of the five Executive Board
positions as an individual candidate. Alternatively, each may join with a second party to run for any of the five positions as a co-candidate. If you are interested in running with a partner but cannot find a running mate, the Nominating Committee can assist you in finding one. Whether you run as an individual candidate or co-candidate is not important. What is important is that you run. If no parents step forward to run, there can be no election slate. And with no election slate there can be no Executive Board and, effectively, no PTA.

The Election
Elections for the Executive Board take place at one of the scheduled general meetings. Those in attendance are asked to vote among the nominees in order to fill all five positions. If there is only one nominee or pair of nominees for a position, board members will take a voice vote. If there is more than one nominee or pair of nominees for a position, board members will vote by written ballot. Members must be present to cast their votes
and nominees must be present to be elected.
