The PS 8 PTA has committees focused on Communications, Fundraising and Development, and Middle School. The Communications Committee works to connect families to one another, ensuring they are well informed and share a common sense of purpose. To that end, this committee oversees the website, enhanced email communication between the school and students’ homes, and all materials needed to promote and support school events. The Fundraising and Development Committee meets monthly and seeks to raise funds and marshal resources to support school programming, including specialty teachers, enrichment and after-school programming. This committee includes smaller groups specifically focused on development, grant writing, fundraising events such as the annual spring auction, advertising solicitations, online fundraising opportunities, merchandise sales, and alumni relations. The Middle School Committee seeks to research and communicate with families about the middle school application process, as well as to lobby the DOE to expand PS 8 through 8th grade.
