About the Library

Dear PS 8 Families,

Have you had a chance to stop by the PS 8 Library’s new home in the annex? This school year promises to be one of the best yet because the new PS 8 Library is decked out with brand new computers and furniture to expand access and enjoyment of all of the wonderful resources that the library has to offer our community.

This school year each class will visit the library on a regularly scheduled basis. During each library period students will participate in a lesson followed by the opportunity to explore and borrow materials from the library collection. Library lessons are designed in order to foster the growth of independent library users, information literacy skills, and, of course, a love of reading and literature. Library materials circulate for one week, but may be renewed twice (3 weeks total). In addition, popular titles may be placed on reserve by the librarian and placed on the hold shelf in the library for up to one week. In order to begin borrowing privileges, each student must have a signed permission slip on file with the library (download and complete this Library Contract).

Thank you for your continued support of the PS 8 Library!

Sincerely,

Amanda Erin Green, Librarian
