Film Club

PS 8’s Film Club is open to students in third through fifth grade, and meets once a week after school in two 10 week sessions, one in winter and one in spring. Students apply in the fall to participate.

In each session of Film Club, students collaborate to make a film of their choosing.  Films may be educational, documentary or fictional.  All students participate in all parts of filmmaking, from pre-production to camera work and editing on our Mac computer.

A recent Film Club project – 2011’s Saving Water 101 – was one of six finalists in National Geographic/Procter and Gamble’s “Find Your Footprint” contest. View the film by clicking the image above and learn more about that film and the contest here, here and here.
